To preserve traditional folk music of The Thar region, I Love Jaisalmer supported Manganiyars through various means for their sustenance during the Covid pandemic. I Love Jaisalmer reached out to 100 families of Manganiyaars based in 8 remote villages of the Jaisalmer in need. Awareness sessions on covid protocols and government schemes supporting artists were also conducted.

Manganiyars are hereditary professional musicians residing mostly in the Jaisalmer district. The COVID-19 has restricted the global performances of folk artists and posed a challenge to the survival of the popular art form of the region. The closure of tourist places and hotels after COVID 19 restrictions has deprived the artist community of their livelihood for several months to support them during the challenges of the pandemic.
